NKHS students participate in Honor Bands (pictured)

Three students from Northwood-Kensett High School participated in the University of Northern Iowa Northern Festival of Bands, February 12-14. Lizze Braun and Katie Hale, both freshmen, were selected for the 9-10 band while Brianne Kilborn, a junior, was selected for the 11-12 band. After a round of auditions, the clarinetists began their rigorous rehearsal schedule. While they were at UNI, many college students provided lobby concerts, showcasing their talents. The weekend culminated in a grand concert on Saturday afternoon.

Seven more high school band students will be traveling to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa for the Dorian Honor Band to be held March 1-2. For Paige Pangburn, Stefan Grahn, Brianne Kilborn, and Alex Breitsprecher, this is their second year of attending the prestigious honor band. Kathy Porter, Bethany Rops, and Sarah Odom will make their first appearance at Dorian this year.
