June 12, 2018 School Board Minutes

The Northwood-Kensett Board of Directors met in a Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Elementary Media Center at 7:00 P.M.


Members present: Larry Hovey; John Anderson; Susan Kliment; Roger Harris

Members Absent: Cindy Pangburn


(4-0) Approved the agenda; May 10th and 21st board minutes; Financial Reports for May; June bills for payment



Elementary Principal: 1) Summer School June 4-22 for K-3 with 13 students working with Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Ubben  2) Staff edited priority standards used for report cards and developed Progression of Learning Rubrics to be shared with parents  3) Developed a list of rental housing contacts for new teachers


Secondary Principal: 1) 10 students working with Mr. Reindl for summer credit recovery and alternative program coursework during June & July  2) Additional FCS courses added for 2018-19: Housing, Adulting 101, internship program  3) Change in district photographer from Skarpness to Lifetouch


Superintendent: 1) Construction Update: HVAC and Ind Arts/Ag building are on schedule; Elementary gym roof is complete  2) Auction proceeds netted $6,797 


Board:  1) Next Regular Board Meeting scheduled for July 12th

(4-0) Approved the agreement with Waldorf University for clinical experiences and student teaching   


(4-0) Approved the Subway card and Casey’s card fundraisers for the Spanish Club

(4-0) Approved student fees for 2018-2019 as presented by Mr. Crozier


(4-0) Approved no increase in student nutrition pricing for 2018-2019 and an increase to $3.65 in adult lunch price


(4-0) Approved Brian Costello and Keith Fritz as Level I Investigators and Andy Grunhovd of the Worth County Sheriff’s Department as Level II Investigator


(4-0) Approved Melissa Heiken as head cook at the secondary building for the 2018-19 school year


(4-0) Accepted the resignation of Nick Schiltz as assistant baseball coach effective May 22, 2018


(4-0) Approved Ryan Severson as a volunteer baseball coach for the 2018 season


(4-0) Approved Rachel Symonds as secondary science teacher for the 2018-19 school year at first year MA base


(4-0) Adjourned the meeting at 7:42 pm
