Janssen Family Charitable Trust Fund

By Renwick, Amy

April 01, 2015

Don Janssen, who was a successful farmer in the Northwood, Iowa, area established a charitable trust known as the JANSSEN FAMILY CHARITABLE TRUST FUND. The purpose for which, in part, is to provide for scholarships for graduating seniors of the Northwood-Kensett High School.

Applications will be taken by the trustees of the Scholarship fund and guidelines for a recipient are as follows:

1. Preference will be given to students that have been involved in or plan to pursue a career in the agricultural field.

2. Being aware that students who plan to attend a two-year, post-high-school course of education, including vocational training as well as a college course will be equally considered, in that the trustees are aware of the additional needs for students looking at vocation training/education, and realize that four-year students in most situations have more scholarships available to them.

3. The applicants will be considered on the basis of achievement and need.

4. The initial scholarship for the 2007 graduates will be one scholarship in the sum of $2,000. If the recipient demonstrates success in their educational pursuits, and Trustees would like to continue the scholarship for at least a second year, this course of action will be determined on a year-to-year basis.
