2025-2026 Northwood-Kensett Cell Phone Policy
August 14, 2025
Attention, Parents/Guardians and Students!!!
Student devices (i.e. cell phones, gizmo watches, Apple watches, iPads and all other electronic devices, including earbuds) and what you need to know:
Elementary School: Cell phones and other electronic devices must be left in student lockers throughout the school day.
Middle School: Each student turns in their cell phone to their 1st hour teacher and retrieves it from them at the end of their day.
High School: Students may keep their phones, but they may not be out or in use from 8:30 AM to lunch, and from a
fter lunch until 3:28 (or the end of their day).

This prohibition includes hall time, passing time between classes, study hall, trips to the restroom, etc. Basically, high schoolers can have their phones out before school, at lunch, and after school, and that’s all.
In all cases, students breaking these rules will have their devices confiscated and brought to the office, with an escalating set of consequences for each event.
A parent or guardian may petition the principal to allow their child to maintain access to a personal electronic device for a legitimate reason related to the student’s physical or mental health, based on the unique facts of the student’s case. There is no guarantee the request will be granted.
